Brisbane Grammar + Brisbane Girls Grammar are the state's flagship academic schools, both consistently above ATAR 95 median. The Brisbane GPS competition (Anglican Church Grammar, BBC, BGS, Gregory Terrace, Ipswich Grammar, Nudgee, Toowoomba Grammar, etc.) anchors the senior boys' independent sport calendar.
Queensland transitioned to a new ATAR-based QCE system in 2020 (replacing the older OP system). The state has a strong boarding tradition — many regional + remote families send children to Brisbane + Toowoomba for senior school.
